DD Direct Plus moving to Insat 4B?

DD the national broadcaster and the first to use Satellites to broadcast signal directly to peoples homes, brought the digital revolution into most peoples homes …Crystal clear reception n good sound were their USP. They also promised upgradability using cam slot to get paid channels (which never materialised).

I was too bored of cable and wanted to experiment so i took it because it had BBC and AajTak and i kinda liked Zee smile, music and DD Kashir for classic movies plus during Bjp era the DD News was revamped and content improved and made more unbiased.

Sadly it was not to last as governments changed and the service degraded to such an extent that most people taking the free box now regret their decision. The situation is so bad that pvt channels are exiting DD Dth and the new purchasers are giving DD a miss.Channels that have QUIT DD Dth Network are BBC, Etv Marathi, ETC Punjabi, Zee Smile and *Aaj Tak and Headlines Today, Star Utsav, TV9 Akash bangla.

Coming to the point ,
DD Direct Plus has rather silently without any fanfare switched to the now operational and fully dedicated INSAT 4B at 93.5*E from the New Skys satellite NSS 6 AT 95*E.

This i say because the DD website doesnt even mention this and is still stuck on NSS 6. Lyngsat has already updated the details .

Changes to be made depending upon ur stb:-

Either scan using Satellite as INSAT 4B at 93.5*E

or do a full auto scan/search using settings – Free or Free+ encrypted(will also catch zee channels) , lnb frequency 9750 , and keep 22k off, rescan again with 22k on .

With the orientation of the dish :-

Stand behind the dish, change the orientation of ur satellite dish ie the azimuth by 1.5* east ie move the dish by a fraction to your right (very slightly say 1/4 of a cm) and Increase the elevation by 1.5*, ie towards the sky by 1/4 th cm until ur signal strength is above 60.

If u still own and use ur DD box and haven’t still done this, even the slightest rains will destroy the signal, though in clear skies u will still get the signal at a lesser strength as the angle difference is only a 1.5* . read DD migration .. updated aug06

You should also get Non DD Channels from the weaker but existing NSS6 Signal – Zee Jagran, Play tv, Zee Talkiez (Marathi), Kalaingar tv (DMK)(test feed) and Evangelical CGN Korea channel and a few radio channels like Punjab Radio etc .
