India has world class institutions like the IIMs and IITs and also decent B schools for management studies. Not only that we also have institutions like IISC , CDAC and Nift and Law schools like the NLS at Bangalore.
Then with so much infrastructure what ails our higher education system- Such that lakhs of students head to places like Australia and Singapore in Asia and Us and Uk etc? that too paying very high fees?
First is it a lack of proper basic education for the masses coupled with vote bank politics?
Lack of infrastructure and institutions in comparison to to the population /demand automatically forcing- setting of the bar too high thus cutting off access even to deserving students?
Is it denial of quality higher education to the middle or lower classes by barring local campuses of reputed Foreign Institutions like Mit etc just to maintain a dominance on the students and steer the education policy?
Is it lack of funding and very low fees and high govt subsidy and comparatively low pay for highly skilled staff that is getting in the way?
Is it incorrect policy making and poor Implementation and poor audit mechanisms leading to unnecessary wastages?
Finally is it plain and simple Political Interference and selective reservations based on caste ruining the current lot of temples of higher education?
